Training content
We use Moldflow to predict the optimum feasibility of a plastic injection molded part. However, this does not give us any information as to whether the plastic part will withstand the mechanical or thermal requirements during use. The answers are provided by the non-linear FEM calculation. Since the injection molding process has a significant micro-local influence on the material properties – in the form of fiber orientation, residual stresses, weld lines – a reliable prediction of the durability of a plastic part can only be guaranteed by coupling process simulation (with Moldflow) and strength calculation (e.g. with Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus) with the help of property mapping (“material modeling”). Although this technology is complex, we can teach you step by step. This enables both the verification and optimization of digital plastic designs.
The following are taken into account:
- Fiber orientation
- Residual voltages
- Seam strength
- Warping geometry
- Breakage behavior
In our training course, we demonstrate the coupling of the two simulations FEM and Moldflow through to fracture simulation (Progressive Failure Analysis) using clear teaching and practical examples.
