WAYS TO A SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT

Using plastics technology successfully and intelligently ... knowing how.

SHAPE & DESIGN

Design and construction suitable for plastics - an important basis for product success

In order to realize successful plastic products, you need a sophisticated construction - a successful design. This must correspond to the plastic material and the required boundary conditions as well as the intended production process in the best possible way.
We can support you here.

DESIGN CHECK
We check your design to see whether it is suitable for plastic and provide you with assistance in making any necessary corrections. Here we discover avoidable sources of error
INJECTION MOLDING SIMULATION
Here we thoroughly verify how your product behaves in the production process. Process capability, dimensional stability, warpage, weld lines, air inclusions and shrinkage are just a few of the inspection criteria that determine the success or failure of your product.
STRENGTH CALCULATION
Plastics are materials that react completely differently to loads depending on temperature, duration, dynamics and ambient media. We have specialized in calculating this complex material behaviour.
COUPLED SIMULATION
A specialty is the coupled calculation of strength with process simulation. The following properties of the material model are visualized: Fiber orientation Residual voltages Seam strength Warping geometry Breakage behavior

MATERIAL SELECTION & REQUIREMENTS LIST

Plastics are tailored to requirements - the right choice is crucial

Plastics are universal materials made to measure. Accordingly, the choice is almost limitless - and therefore confusing.
In plain language, this means that the right material must be found based on the requirements placed on the plastic part to be designed. If this is taken to heart, the subsequent success of the project is within reach.

LIST OF REQUIREMENTS
Precisely because plastics can be used in a wide range of applications, it is extremely important to consider all the immediate boundary conditions. But the question of how the material can add value for you at the end of the product's life must also be answered at this stage. Remember: plastic is also a limited resource and must therefore be used as efficiently as possible, i.e. maximum utilization of performance with minimum use of material.
MATERIAL SELECTION
Here, three to five plastics are included in the narrowed-down selection. These are then checked again for performance, cost-effectiveness, availability, existing information content, recyclability, sustainability, LoPIE, etc. Finally, two plastics remain for the final selection. Final considerations can now be: What product impact does the material in question have on our environment? Which material is the more responsible choice?
MATERIAL DATABASES
We use multiple databases to provide the most comprehensive depth of information and verification. This allows us to call up data on process behavior, mechanical, chemical, thermodynamic and other aspects for several thousand "classic" plastics and several hundred "alternative" plastics.
MATERIAL MEASUREMENT
If you want to use a material for which no usable engineering information is available, we will provide you with the appropriate material measurement you need. Based on our many years of experience and extensive materials expertise, we will provide you with the right measurement package for you and process it via the most suitable materials laboratory - worldwide!

PRODUCT AND MATERIAL LIFE CYCLE

Products are thought further than before - solutions for a product life now and beyond.

Versatile material, universal application, coveted and limited resource, environmentally harmful factor - plastic stands for these contradictory attributes. One of the core tasks of product development will be to produce much more intelligent and sustainable plastic parts than before. In this way, we are creating tangible improvements for a long time to come, as well as opportunities to re-create value from the material, while at the same time acting more responsibly towards future generations.

PRODUCT CHECK
Can your product become lighter? Can less material be used? How can you increase durability? Can alternative plastics be used? Can you give your product a better image as a result? This is just an excerpt from the questions we ask when we check your product.
RECYCLING STRATEGY
Are there well thought-out recycling and disposal concepts? Can your product be sorted and easily dismantled? How can a high-quality product be developed from this again? How much does this save in costs in the long term? These questions are at the forefront of our considerations regarding recycling. Think about it with us!

CONSIDERATION OF THE PROCESS CHAIN

From the first drafts to the finished product to recycling - a long way with a lot of untapped potential.

The plastics technology process chain is particularly diversified. Here, the people involved in design, engineering, craftsmanship and production change, as do the tools used and the materials from metal (e.g. injection molds) to polymers (3D printing, injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, etc.). At best, these changes happen within a company. As a rule, however, these take place in a variety of ways between individual companies, each with different value creation goals. Strict adherence to the process chain is therefore essential for a plastic product to be successful at all.

PROCESS CHAIN CHECK
From the initial idea to the finished product - we analyze the consistency of your process chain. Where there are gaps in knowledge and performance, we close them with our expertise.
BRIDGE HIT
Individual companies or even individual departments often act as soloists in the development process, which leads to a loss of information. We ensure a "bridge-building" between the specialist islands and thus lead those involved in the process to an optimal interlocking through mutual understanding of the respective activities.

COMMUNICATION & INNOVATION

Creating space for innovation and promoting interdisciplinary communication skills.

Today, innovative product development means being in constant communication - with other departments, other companies, other countries and cultures. Those involved need special skills to be able to cope well with these challenges. Our aim is to promote this.

INTERDISCIPLINARY COMMUNICATION
Collaboration between different departments or partner companies can be complicated - these frictional losses can be efficiently avoided. We teach the basics of mediative communication and make stumbling blocks visible. Developing a feeling for good communication and following its rules automatically leads to better cooperation and a more productive atmosphere.
INNOVATION WORKSHOPS
Today, it is assumed that the age of the individual genius is over. Innovative ideas are best developed together with several people. The more heterogeneous the working groups are, the better. Using methods from design thinking and creativity research, we guide teams through the entire innovation process. In a relaxed atmosphere, surprising things can happen in a very short time. Try it out!
PROCESS MODERATION
Sometimes something goes wrong with a project and nobody really knows why? This is often followed by mutual recriminations - unfortunately not a particularly helpful way to solve a problem. We moderate your process discussions in order to clarify points of view, resolve conflicts and thus make solution-oriented work possible again.

PLASTICS TECHNOLOGY TRAINING

Doing the right things and doing things right - at the right time

In the highly fragmented processes and projects that are common today, it is almost impossible to tackle every task yourself with the necessary knowledge. This is like flying blind. And that rarely goes well. It's reassuring to have a local pilot at your side. This is us.
How can we help you?

WORKSHOPS & SEMINARS
For materials managers, designers, engineers, development and quality managers, project engineers and decision-makers - here you will learn the nuts and bolts of plastics.
KNOW-HOW STRUCTURE
Simply offering individual training courses does not make a coherent whole. That's why we offer to work with you to develop a know-how concept that will bring your employees and specialist departments up to an effective level.
1 : 1 COACHING
This is how we understand our support after thorough know-how development. For urgent questions that need to be answered quickly during development, we are on hand to provide advice and assistance within minutes.
